Chamundeshwari Temple on top of Chamundi Hills can be reached by road from Mysore city. This is about a 13 km drive. You can travel in your private vehicles as well as public transport buses operated by Karnataka government run KSRTC.

The Chamundi hill name after the goddess Chamundi is about 1000 meters high from sea level and can also reached by steps (Around 1000 steps)

Temple is built for Chamundeshwari or Durga, the goddess who is a battle killed the bad king ( Rakshasa) Mahishasura on whom the city is named(Maisuru/Mysuru/Mysore) to bring good to the city. She is the tutelary deity of the Mysore Maharajas and the presiding deity of Mysore. It has a history of more than 1000 years. It is an old richest antique temple. Were the Maharaja of mysuru presented the costliest emerald chain to the god Chamundi temple? The cost of emerald chain is estimated as selling the whole Mysore city 3 times of money.

Darshana and Pooja Timings: 7.30 a.m to 2 p.m and 3.30 to 6 p.m and 7.30 p.m to 9 p.m.
Abhisheka Timings : 6 a.m. to 7.30 a.m and 6 p.m to 7.30 p.m | Friday 5 a.m to 6.30 a.m.
Dasoha (free meals) is arranged to devotees daily 12.30 p.m to 2.30 p.m.

If you are planning to visit the temple from the Nanjangud side after visiting Ooty / Nanjangud / Bandipur / Wayanad ec., there is another road.

Mysore Maharajas are known to be great patrons & are credited for the current form of the temple.

There are varieties of trees, birds, and animals in the hills. Sighting of leopard by nearby residential areas is regular news.

The view from the road or steps is unforgettable. The view of Lalith Mahal palace (Which is now a star hotel) is splendid.

The Mahishasura statue on top of the hill is a great attraction, especially for the kids. The Nandi statue on the way to the temple is the other attraction.

Day 1: Departure

DELHI / CHANDIGARH – SHIMLA Drive from Delhi to Shimla (343 kms, 8 hrs) arrive Shimla. Transfer to hotel. Overnight at Shimla.


Day 2

SHIMLA CITY TOUR One of the most popular hill Resorts of the North. The town is situated at an altitude of 6810 ft, initially chosen as a sanatorium for invalid European officers, but soon developed into a big hill town and became the summer capital of the country. There are ample opportunities in Shimla for sports. This day departure for full day sightseeing to Chail ( Chail Palace, World’s highest Cricket ground, Sidh Temple and Kali Ka Tibba) and Kufri ( Deshu Peak and Meshu Peak). Dinner at resort in Shimla. Overnight at resort in Shimla.


Day 3

SHIMLA – MANALI Drive from Shimla to Manali (280 kms. 8 hrs) Arrive Manali Transfer to hotel. Dinner and Overnight at hotel.


Day 4

MANALI – LOCAL SIGHT SEEING Walk through town visiting newly constructed Buddhist Monastery. Hadimba Devi temple-It is small temple situated in the dense forest is very interesting. Hadimba is said to be the wife of Bhima from the epic of Mahabharata. Vashisht, it is an extremely picturesque little place clinging to the steep hill side. On the way up to the village you come upon the Vashisht hot baths where a natural sulphur spring is piped into a modern bath -house. Dinner and Overnight at Manali.


Day 5

MANALI – ROHTANG PASS Full day tour of Rohtang Pass – The majesty of the mountains and the glaciers can be seen at their best; you have next two hours to enjoy this snowy haven. Take a sledge ride down the slopes, try your luck climbing the little snow hills. On your descents to Manali, halt at the Rahalla falls and Solang Valley. The Magnificent views and natural beauty are a never-ending source of delight. Also halt at Marhi, Ralha falls, Nehru Kund. Return to the hotel for Overnight stay at Manali.


Day 6

MANALI TO CHANDIGARH (320kms, approx. 09 hrs drives) Morning drive to Chandigarh. Arrive Chandigarh check in the hotel and now proceed to sightseeing tour of Chandigarh including Rock Garden, constructed almost entirely out of city garbage; Rose Garden 30 landscaped acres containing a variety of 1600 roses; Museum & Art Gallery housing a good collection of sculptures and paintings. Overnight at Chandigarh.


Day 7: Return

AIRPORT / RAILWAY STATION DROP After breakfast checkout from the hotel and proceed for Airport / Railway Station. TOUR END
