Pykara falls:

19 km from Ooty. The river has a dam and power plant. There is a breathtaking scenery. The falls, about 6 km from the bridge on the main road, are best in July, but they are also worth visiting from August to December. There is a forest rest House at Pykara. A boat house by the Pykara falls and Dam is added attractions to the tourists.Pykara boasts of well protected fenced Sholas, Toda settlements, undistributed grassy meadows and also a good wildlife habitat. The Pykara Dam, Pykara falls and the reservoir attracts many tourists. A boat house with Restaurant is available.

Ooty lake:-

If you are on a sightseeing tour to Ooty, you might want to visit the Government Botanical gardens, which were laid out in 1847. The Gardens have well over 650 species of plants and trees, including a fossil of a tree, which is believed to be more than 20 million years old.

Ooty toy train:-

This toy train service was first started between Coonoor and Metupalyam during 1899. But the line was extended upto Ooty during 1908. The passenger service was started on 15.10.1908 from Ooty to Coonoor. This is the only heritage train and runs at the highest elevated place in Southern India. The service comes under Niligiri Mountain Railway (NMR) and is a major tourist attraction.

Botanical Gardens:-

This garden was laid out in 1847 by the Marquis of Tweedale and is spread over 55 acres. Lush green well maintained lawns, rare tree species, a 20 million year old fossilized tree, an Italian-style garden bordering a clear pool, a vast variety of flowering bushes and plants in myriad hues (exotic and ornamental), fern house with a vast range of ferns and orchids, are some of the many highlights of this garden. A flower show along with an exhibition of rare plant species is held every year in the month of May at this garden.

Rose garden:-

Located less than a km from Charring Cross .It is laid on 10 acres of land. The garden has a collection of more than 1000 varieties of roses. Today, this garden has the largest collection of roses in the country. Hybrid Tea Roses, miniature roses, Floribunda, Ramblers, roses of unusual colors like black and green.

Dodda Betta:-

The beautiful hill station of Ooty. Dodabetta Peak, the highest point (2623 meters) in the region, it offers a panoramic view of the entire hill resort

Sim’s Park:-

The park is situated in a deep ravine on the north side of Coonoor Railway Station. The natural shola with winding footpaths all over the higher slopes of the park is the most distinctive and picturesque feature of this park.

Dolphin’s Nose:-

The Dolphin’s nose is a great vantage point that offers a panoramic view of the surrounding areas. If it is clear day, you can even see the Catherine falls from here.
